Background History

L. T. M. Medical College Library has its origin in a small telephone operator’s room in 1950, belonging to the   L. T. M. G. Hospital. When in November 1964, the medical college was started; library shifted to the larger space & now in 2023 it has 15524.09 sq.ft total area at its credit.

All the major decisions of library are being taken by respected “Library Committee Members”

The Present Dean Dr. Mohan Joshi Sir is the Chairman of the Library Committee & other members include –

ii)                Dr. Paras Kothari – Prof. & HOD of Ped. Surgery

iii)              Dr. Uma Sunder –  Prof. of Medicine

Facilities, Equipment’s & Special services:-

1. Reference Section – Latest editions of books & newly arrived periodicals are arranged alphabetically subject wise & made available to be read in library premises.
2. Home Lending – Older editions of books and journals arrived before one month are issued for home reading to staff and post-graduate students.
3. Photocopying facility – Available
4. Inter Library Loan – Reciprocal arrangement for sharing the resources of the libraries in Mumbai is made available to students and staff of Institute.
5. Corporate Membership: Other Institutions, which have interest in referring the library material, are allowed to use the library on payment of Rs. 1500/- per year, towards, LTMM College & LTMG Hospital Department Development Fund.
6. Three reading rooms are open for 24 Hrs.
7. U.G. Home Lending Facility – Books are issued to undergraduate students for 15 days on nominal membership fees.
